Riverside is an arterial street that delivered me to my home in suburban southeast Florida for years. When you look up my old house in Google Maps you will see a pattern of houses that remind me of coral.

It is funny – all of this neighborhood is drained Everglades. The houses cannot have basements because they are built on coral. This intrigued me into making a series of drawings about the creatures that still live in this environment – along with the suburbanites.

A keen eye will notice the lakes made out of canals combined with creatures and suburban people artifacts. The white gesso marks create a texture similar to coral. All of these images emanate from the spine. Discover unrelated images is like digging up archaeological clues.
